A Small Group is an intentional, face to face gathering of people, meeting at a regular time with the common purpose of discovering and growing in a relationship with each other and the living Christ.CHBC Encourages 3 Types of Small Groups
- MINISTRY GROUP
- A Ministry Group is a small group which fulfills a specific ministry function at CHBC and contains the small group dynamics of (a) mutual caring and accountability, (b) prayer, (c) the study and application of God's Word.
- GROWTH GROUP
- A Growth Group is a small group which is committed to spiritual growth and multiplication and contains the small group dynamics.
- ACCOUNTABILITY GROUP
- An Accountability Group is a small group committed to mutual spiritual growth, focused on members within the group and not necessarily on outreach.
Why Small Groups?
The concept of Small Group ministry is not just another modern American trend.Consider this:
- Small groups are the very dynamic designed by the Creator when He established the family for carrying out His very first commands given in the Garden.
- God then used one small group, Noah's family, to reestablish His plan after the flood.
- It was the small group — starting with Abraham and then his heirs — to whom God spoke his words of covenant and promise.
- Jesus' strategy, indeed the bulk of His 3 year active public ministry was invested in a small group.
- The meeting together in small groups was a dominant characteristic of the early church as recorded in the New Testament.
